Infinity All Stars Shine Bright on Championship Night

Infinity and Infinity All Stars faced off in a thrilling basketball match that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. The game was held on December 17th, 2023, and was a closely contested affair, with both teams putting up a good fight.

Infinity All-Stars emerged victorious with a score of 71-68. The team Infinity’s defense was particularly impressive, with the team blocking 8 shots and stealing the ball 4 times. Infinity All Stars, on the other hand, struggled with their shooting, making only 30 out of 83 field goal attempts. But their persistence paid off! When Infinity’s top scorer Lorrie Brown fouled out early in the 4th quarter, that pretty much sealed the fate of her team, as they had to play with 4 players for the remainder of the 4th quarter. Although they tried valiantly, it was not enough against Selezqua mcLaughlin and her team!

The Shockwaves and the SLK Hoods went head-to-head in a game that had everything. It was a game that had you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. The final score was Shockwaves 66 – SLK Hoods 36.

The Shockwaves started the game strong, taking a 10-point lead in the first quarter. They continued their dominance in the second quarter, outscoring the SLK Hoods by 8 points to take a 30-15 lead at halftime. But the SLK Hoods were not going to go down without a fight. They came out strong in the third quarter, but the Shockwaves managed to outscore the Hoods by only 2 points heading into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a tense and dramatic affair, with the Shockwaves playing their hearts out. They managed to extend their lead and win the game by a comfortable margin of 30 points. Jordan Bodden was the star player for the Shockwaves, finishing with 22 points and 16 rebounds. For the SLK Hoods, Andrew Stone was the top scorer with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Youth Basketball Tournament is Official

Cayman, Port Arthur Texas, Bermuda and Trinidad and Tobago will compete in the Upcoming Sports Festival

There is excitement around the upcoming Youth Basketball Tournament which will showcase Cayman’s local youth talent. The tournament takes place during July 18-20 and will feature boys and girls teams. All four countries will be represented in the boys category and Cayman vs Port Arthur will have a 3 game series in the Girls Category.

Pastor Wanda Bodden – Founder of Bringing Back the Glory Tournaments – had a vision 3 years ago to give children of Port Arthur Texas, who had been devastated by hurricane Harvey, an opportunity to get international exposure and a glimmer of hope despite their current circumstances. She then reached out to the CI Basketball Association & Department of Sports about having a tournament with Cayman, given Port Arthur’s rich history with Caymanians who had settled and started families in Port Arthur many decades ago.

Despite a few challenges, this dream has now become a reality. Cayman will get to showcase some of its high school talent, many of whom will be performing on home soil for the first time; Port Arthur, a city of 50,000 people, will live up to its reputation of athletic prowess, and now with the additions of Bermuda and Trinidad & Tobago, it has turned out to be quite a tournament indeed.

Tournament schedule will be released soon.
