Cayman Teams Head to the 3×3 AmeriCup

Today marks an exciting journey for the Cayman Islands National men and women 3×3 basketball teams as they head to Puerto Rico for the prestigious 3×3 AmeriCup. This tournament is a golden opportunity for our athletes to shine on the international stage, showcasing their skills and competing against some of the best teams in the Americas.

The women’s team, featuring Khailan O’Connor, Lashawntae Robinson, Courtisha Ebanks, and Arleny Ebanks, is set to face formidable opponents from Cuba, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. These talented women have been training tirelessly, and their recent performances have shown they are ready to take on the challenge.

On the men’s side, Davion Cotterell, Kwei General, Shaad O’Garro, Borislav D’Jordjic, and Alexander Thompson will compete against teams from Aruba, Guyana, and Haiti. Each player brings unique strengths to the team, and together, they form a cohesive unit that has been performing exceptionally well in recent competitions.

Their participation in the AmeriCup is not just a testament to their hard work and dedication but also a source of immense pride for the Cayman Islands. As they step onto the court in Puerto Rico, they carry with them the hopes and support of their entire nation.

Cayman Competes in its First ever FIBA 3×3 Competition

Basketball continues to grow by leaps and bounds! One of CIBA’s goals is to increase its competition presence both locally and internationally. There has been a focus over the past 12 months on 3×3 which is now an Olympic Sport. Cayman Qualified for its first ever FIBA World Cup qualifier tournament late last year and now a Men and Women’s team will take part in the AMERICUP 3×3 Tournament which takes place in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Nov 29-Dec 3rd.

Cayman’s Men’s team consists of Samuel and Shaad O’Garro, Davion Cotterell and Kwei General. Cayman’s Women’s team consists of Chloe Powery-Doxey, Lyandrea Watson, Vania Cornwall and Khailan O’Connor.
